Thank you for...
Wake up snuggles and raindrops.
Thank you for the smell of coffee in the morning,
For warm homemade nutella pop tarts melting in my mouth.
For clean underwear and a fridge full of food.
Thank you for snow on Thanksgiving.
Thank you for hide and seek and little Lego polar bears,
For a four day weekend and no Internet.
Thank you for dishwashers, apple cider, and Mary Poppins.
Thank you for a couch...

They Laugh Together
Love blossomed that year
A sweet girl in her sunday best
An eager boy in his pickup truck
It began
They laughed
Together.
The love was watered and grew
A young woman in a white dress
An anxious man in a nervous sweat
A dance
They laughed
Together.
Time passed with sunshine and rain
A loving mother getting dinner from the oven
A happy father getting tiny hugs after work
A family

My Birthday
…Because that’s what it’s like with you. It’s not just hanging out with you…you bring people into an experience. The experience is of who you are, but it’s also more than that. It’s about finding their own joy and experience the life that surrounds and bypasses us every day. You’re a bridge back to where everyone wants to be…God loves how you are and how, in a free way, you are...

This is a little outdated, but I recorded it because it was the first week Tegan ever gave me a kiss. It was a huge milestone for me because he’s never been very affectionate and of course I am. Nowadays he is a kissing maniac. Even blow-kissing strangers on the bus:)
Lorrina's Heart
School at Malcolm X is always interesting because of the culture and age differences. I’ve never experienced the typical “university life,” but I have a feeling this is so much better for me. I’m learning way beyond the textbook.
Tonight I attended my speech class. I was so stressed this week after getting back from Florida because I had catching up to do from missing my...
June?
Is it June already? I’ve nearly forgotten what it’s like to feel cold. I actually had a list I was going to post of things to see this winter in Chicago from an artist named Allison Warren. (It is from a post card my friend Amanda gave me) I think I succeeded in the majority of them:
the furry snow blanket keeping the pond warm
watercolor reflections on slick pavement
black sky...

Tuesday Morning Panic
This morning started out like any other. I put Tegan down for his nap, checked my email, did some laundry, tidied my room, watched the weather, took out the trash, and that’s where normality ended. The moment I shut the door behind me was the moment I realized it was locked.
I stood there for a second in my pajamas, assessing the situation. I had no keys, no phone, Becky was on an airplane,...

First Steps
With Becky in Vegas, Tegan and Ed headed out to the suburbs this weekend, putting me on Warren Blvd. all alone. I was surprised how odd it felt for me to not have anyone near me. I even let Fox, our dog, snuggle in bed with me on Saturday night:) I’m at home with Tegan a lot, so having him gone was especially weird. On Sunday afternoon, it was an amazing feeling to have them back at home....

What’s a sweeter sound than a child’s laugh? The best part is, the only thing I was doing to make him crack up was make a little “chkk” sound like I was taking a photo. Children=Joy!

Went to see this band play last week. “Happy Rain” is how my friend described their music before they started. I agree. The sounds just make me happy and also reflective. Check them out!

Felicita by Romina & Power
Little did they know…the name of their business is also a famous Italian love song. Thanks Graziella! What a great way to look at life. I’m moving to Italy someday!
If you don’t speak Italian, here’s the translation:
Happiness
Happiness is holding hands and going away together happiness is an innocent look, in the middle of a crowd happiness is staying close like...

…in Missouri right now working my butt off getting ready for the Springfield Bridal show! My sister, Angela, and Jan Hawkins have let me dive right in and help out with their new business—Felicita (happiness in Italian). Check them out on facebook right now because their website is still being constructed. They have really been making BEAUTIFUL “things.” I’ll post...
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
The holidays are over and I’m back in Chicago…brrrr! Even with the “fairly simple life” that I lead, I still found myself busy and a little stressed. Christmas presents, packing, planning, baking, etc. It was all worth it by the time I was lying on the sunny beach in Florida, listening to the ocean breeze rustling the palm trees overhead.
It got me thinking about life in...

There's No Place Like Home
Home is where the heart is, but my heart is in so many places.
I flew “home” to Kansas last Wednesday for some Thanksgiving celebrating. My bubble was ready to burst with excitement when I woke up Wednesday morning! I tried to stifle myself, and kept it from popping:) Landing in Kansas City and randomly seeing an old friend from elementary school—that also lives in...
The cows are out on Holmes again!
– Me, on the phone with my dad, Warren, who had just called to warn us of the dangers of country roads at night. My Kansas home is on “Holmes” Road, just north of K-4 Highway.
The Beginning
This blog is a long time coming. I love to share photos and I kept on telling myself I would start one. I’ll try to keep updated on where I’m going with my photography (and some other aspects of my life.)
In the last year, I’ve done quite a bit of traveling and transitioning. I have a feeling I might reminisce and post some of my old photos from the past:) For the last 4 months...
